Pulsar Group Brewery
The Samarkand Brewery was founded in 1885 as the first brewery in Central Asia. It was built with the investment of a German entrepreneur, using authentic Czech brewing technology. Even today, when you step into the old fermentation halls, brewing rooms, and beer maturation cellars, you might find it hard to tell whether you are in Samarkand, Brno, Plzeň, or Prague — the architectural details, construction features, and brickwork are identical to those found in the Czech Republic.
In 1892, a mineral water deposit was discovered on the brewery’s premises, and a well was drilled. For over a century, it has supplied Uzbekistan with top-quality therapeutic and table mineral water, now sold under the brand “Samarqand” in stores and pharmacies. The exceptional quality of Samarkand’s water is due to the unique landscape — the majestic Pamir mountain ranges that surround the Samarkand oasis on three sides. Glacial waters feed not only the Zarafshan River and numerous irrigation canals but also enrich the valley’s groundwater.
The modern history of Pulsar Group Brewery began in 1995, when the plant was privatized with the participation of Czech investors. Today, it is a powerful enterprise and a market leader, producing beer and non-alcoholic beverages under the brands Pulsar, Pražskoye, Bochka, Zhigulevskoye, Limonadier, Mohito, and Puls. The brewery is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Only natural hop varieties from Germany and the Czech Republic and premium imported malt are used, ensuring a rich hop flavor and consistently high beer quality. Tourists from the Czech Republic often admit that in a blind tasting, they would not be able to distinguish Pulsar beer from beer brewed in the Czech Republic.
Pulsar Group Brewery (pulsar.uz) prioritizes the quality and taste of genuine beer, brewed and matured according to the Reinheitsgebot purity law of 1516. The brewery remains committed to its principles, never compromising on quality — a fact proven by the 140-year legacy of this legendary brewery, the first in Central Asia.
